First benchmarks for the Exynos 2200: What does the S22 Ultra do?

NextPit Samsung galaxy S21 Ultra back

Samsung is once again using its own processor in the Galaxy S22 series! Even though Samsung presented the Exynos 2200 on January 18th, there have been no benchmark tests so far . Leaker Ishan Agarwal has now published the first benchmark results in a Twitter post. What do we learn here about the performance of the processor with AMD’s gaming power?

  • First benchmark results for the Galaxy S22 Ultra leaked.
  • SoC achieves high scores but still lags behind Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
  • The Galaxy S22 is already being offered with an Exynos processor on various websites

A few hours after the official presentation of Samsung’s flagship processor , leakers and experts have asked themselves a question: where are the benchmarks? Ishan Agarwal has now posted unofficial performance test results on Twitter. The Galaxy S22 Ultra was tested with an Exynos 2200 processor and achieved an amazing performance of 965,874 points on Antutu. This puts the smartphone well above other smartphones like the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which scored 844,488 points.

On Geekbench, the S22 Ultra achieved a score of 1,108 in the single-core tests. The multi-core performance is 3,516. It thus joins the ranks of current top smartphones. The graphics benchmark Aztech gives a result of 109 FPS for the Exynos processor. This is quite significantly below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which achieves 143 FPS in the same test. So that would mean that the Exynos 2200 doesn’t perform as well as the competitor from Qualcomm, at least when you explicitly look at the FPS.

These are the first unconfirmed benchmarks so far. So it remains to be seen how well the Exynos 2200 really performs, but the leak suggests that the SoC can definitely compete with the big competition. The well-known leaker Ice Universe also took up the topic and expressed his concerns about the performance. He posted an image of the Snapdragon benchmarks and compared them to the Samsung processor results.

Galaxy S22+ with Exynos 2200 appeared in various shops

In the meantime, the first offers for the Samsung Galaxy S22+ have also appeared in European shops. Italian websites show a possible price for the Galaxy S22+, which is just over 1,100 euros. The interesting thing is that the model code uses the suffix for the Exynos 2200 processor. So far, it has only been assumed that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will work with the new SoC.

So if the shop offers remain, it is quite possible that Samsung’s entire European lineup will be equipped with an in-house processor. In the end, these are unconfirmed leaks, so we can only wait until February 8th  – if Samsung sticks to its own schedule this time.

What do you think of the benchmarks? Do you think the Snapdragon will perform better than the Exynos 2200 in general? Let us know in the comments!
