Here are three more strong smartphones from Xiaomi: The Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The phones rely on a Leica partnership and have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on board. The three models were presented yesterday, initially for China.
- Xiaomi presented both the Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and the 12S Ultra in its online event.
- All models have a Leica camera system and Qualcomm’s flagship SoC.
- The devices are currently only available in China.
Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro
The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro look exactly the same at first glance, until you take a closer look at the screen size and the specifics of the rear cameras. The slightly smaller 12S sports a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, while the larger 12S Pro’s screen increases to 6.73-inches. Both have a standard refresh rate of 120 Hertz.
The 12S and 12S Pro use the Sony IMX707 sensor for the camera – very good! The 12S also has a 13MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro/telephoto camera, while the 12S Pro brings two more 50MP cameras – one with a 50mm lens (2x magnification) and another with a 14mm ultra-wide lens. Yeah!
The 12S has a 4,500mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging. The Pro has 4,600mAh and 120W fast charging, also wired. Both can also be wirelessly charged at 50W and feature 10W reverse wireless charging. Both are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra
The Xiaomi Ultra is the flagship of the series. It features the same 6.73″ LTPO AMOLED display (120Hz) as the 12S Pro, displaying 1,440 x 3,200 pixels. Internal storage starts at 256GB (up to 512GB) with 8GB (up to 12GB) RAM and here, too, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 provides a lot of steam.
The decisive factor in the 12S Ultra is certainly the huge camera element, which almost gives the cell phone a compact camera look. The camera setup is led by a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50.3MP sensor. Certainly this is one of the largest sensors ever installed in a smartphone. This is joined by a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto zoom sensor. All of the cameras in the 12S series benefit from Xiaomi’s new Leica partnership.
The Ultra’s battery is the same as the 12S, with 67W wired fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging and 10W reverse charging.
