Only three months after the Oppo A76 was released, you can since June 24th. buy its successor, the Oppo A77. You pay a hundred dollars more, but you also get some useful improvements. In particular, the powerful battery and the Super VOOC charging technology look promising in this price range.
- Oppo launches new midranger A77.
- Smartphone has been available since June 24, 2022 for 299 dollars.
- Powerful battery and strong camera as highlights.
Oppo is starting to remind me more and more of an online game publisher. The blizzard of mobile phone manufacturers published an update for the Oppo A76 within three months and is charging around 300 dollars for the device. However, you can expect some upgrades that my colleague Antoine sorely missed in his test of the predecessor.
The mid-range SoC is the first. The manufacturer has opted for a MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset for this purpose. This processor powers a variety of midrangers and comes with two different memory configurations. You have the choice between 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory and 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory. The operating system is also upgraded to ColorOS 12.1. However, the 5,000 mAh battery, which you can charge quickly with Super VOOC technology, is of the same high quality. According to the manufacturer, this recharges half of the battery in 30 minutes.
A worthy upgrade for just 100 dollars?
In addition to the powerful battery, you can also expect a decent camera setup. While the cameras on the A76 caused a bit of a disillusionment, a 48-megapixel main camera awaits you here. Unfortunately, nothing has changed with the telemacro camera and you can still take pictures with a maximum of 2 megapixels. The front camera has also remained the same at 8 megapixels. The 6.56-inch display is still based on LCD technology, but has a resolution of up to 1,612 x 720 pixels. A further increase compared to the previous model.

For just 100 dollars more you get a decent upgrade with the A77. Oppo has addressed and fixed some of the issues of the predecessor, even if the device still falls short of other midrangers.
Above all, the long-lasting battery and the decent camera setup in combination with the Dimensity SoC show that the manufacturer is on the right track. Let’s wait and see, maybe we can see an upgrade for the successor model in three months, which will then cost us 399 dollars. We will see …
