3D renders of the Xiaomi 12 that were leaked in mid-December show a design that doesn’t come across as very innovative. If the leaked information is correct, the smartphone will be significantly more compact than its predecessor.

As you probably know, the Xiaomi 12 will be the next high-end smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer. While there are rumors that the design of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be completely overhauled , the look of the base model will not change much. In fact, according to a leak published by the zoutons.com website, the Xiaomi 12 is said to be very similar to the Mi 11 . However, one important change is pending.
Well-known design, but much more compact
Indian website Zoutons has teamed up with French leaker OnLeaks and released render images and a video showing the alleged design of the Xiaomi 12. These renderings reveal that Xiaomi will probably not change the design of its top smartphone. However, the Xiaomi 12 should differ from the Mi 11 Ultra in one rather big change .
The Xiaomi 12’s display is said to shrink from 6.8 inches to 6.2 inches, which would make the new affordable flagship a much more compact device compared to its predecessor. This decision would help Xiaomi better differentiate the base model from the Ultra variant. As a reminder, both the Mi 11 and the Mi 11 Ultra had a screen diagonal of 6.8 inches.
The leak also revealed other features that seem rather conventional for a 2022 flagship.
No big surprises in the specs
The Xiaomi 12 is said to have an FHD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is already known that the smartphone will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 . The SoC should be supported by at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. We also expect a selfie camera, which is located in the middle using a punch-hole design, while a triple 50 MP camera module can be found on the back. The smartphone is said to come with a 5000mAh battery and offer 100W fast charging.
Previous rumors lead us to believe that the Xiaomi 12 series will be launched in China on December 28 before coming to Europe in 2022. The smartphone will be available in black, white and gold colors.
